Striking it rich

This little gang had a great day when they visited together.   Jyra and big sister Dakota, Samson, Kornelius and Ol.i

As we played under the Oak tree, Samson was suddenly mesmerised and muttering away to himself near a rock.   All of a sudden, he called out, 'Treasure' ... and in constant exclamation, eventually added, 'Come and see, come and see, it's gold.' Then to me, 'danella you've GOT to see this.'

I went over to where all the children were gathered and inspecting what Samson saw ... all engrossed and awestruck.

All Samson could say was, 'What is it? What is it?' There on the rock was a shimmering, glistening something.  The children weren't sure what it was, or whether to try and touch it, or whether they could get some off.

I looked to see and found that the treasure that Samson had struck it rich with ... was a dried snail trail that was shimmering and glistening in the most magical of ways.

The joy and the magic of life all rolled into that experience.

... and as if that wasn't enough ... we soon were visited at close quarters, by a young magpie.  A very curious bird indeed.   The children and I sat quietly to see what he would do and it wasn't long before other joined, just curious and watching us up close ... so we got to watch them closely too.

How special.
