Hey, I know where some eggs are ...

Well before I tell you about where those eggs are ... I just gotta share that it was me, Magnus, Dakota, Jyra and Ari who got the fire going today in the barn.

The children were so proud of themselves.   It was cold and wet and we loaded up a stack of wood in the wheel barrow, set the fire with some slightly wet bits for kindling and managed to get it going in no time ... I'm sure you can imagine how good that felt given the weather today!

Magnus and Dakota in deep discussion and appreciation as the fire took off ...

Warming hands ...

What a team!

Aah ... so good ...

Now about the egg collecting ... off we went to the chicken house, only to be almost bowled over by a group of older children who came rushing past and snapped up the only egg insight.   It happened so fast that all the children in our little gang could do, was catch their breaths and deal with the disappointment.   Magnus and Dakota double checked the laying boxes just a little wistfully.   Dakota announced, 'There was only one egg and another boy got it.'   Magnus piped up, 'I know let's look in the duck house.'

... now that was an idea that saved the moment ... and we did go look ...

There at the back was one large ducks egg half buried in the rice crop used for the floor ... Dakota noticed it and scooped it up with great satisfaction.   Jyra hung back at the door telling me, 'Bit scary ... it's dark' ... and Ari scooted round looking at everything but the egg.

Magnus though, well he was disappointed ... 'Oh, there's only one egg.  What about me?'

In an instant, his face lifted and he added, 'There must be eggs somewhere else.'

Then a stroke of genius seemed to overtake him, his eyes lit up, a smile on his face as he tumbled out, 'I know at home, I can look at home.  I think we got some chicken eggs in our new fridge!'

Off he strode in total triumph ... disappointed no more.
